Do you know the conditions for purchasing an electric wheelchair?

When we buy an electric wheelchair, we need to consider the following points, so as to facilitate your future use. Let’s see the Langfang electric wheelchair manufacturer introduce it to us!

Portable, full size or heavy duty?

When choosing the right type of power wheelchair, consider how often you will use the chair. Will you stay in there all day? Will you need it occasionally? Do you drive regularly?

Travel/Portable

Travel-powered wheelchairs are usually front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. They can be folded or easily disassembled by removing the seat, battery and base to fit in a car’s trunk or as cargo on an airplane. These chairs tend to be smaller, making them ideal for use in apartments, shopping malls, and even boat tours. There is less padding on the seat, so it may be uncomfortable for people who sit in a chair most of the time or who need extra support. Weight capacity is usually around 130kg.

Full Size

If the user will spend most of their time in a power wheelchair, a full-size chair may be a better choice. Full-size power chairs typically have larger seats, armrests, and footrests, as well as more padding. Since the battery is larger than a travel/portable power wheelchair, it has a greater range (the distance it can travel before the battery needs to be recharged). Weight capacity is usually around 130kg.

heavy burden

People weighing more than 130 kg are advised to opt for a heavy-duty electric wheelchair, which has a reinforced frame and a wider seating area. These types of wheels and casters will also tend to be wider to support the chair with the user inside. Most heavy-duty electric wheelchairs weigh 200kg. More specialized wheelchairs have a load capacity of 270 kg, and some manufacturers produce electric wheelchairs with a load capacity of 450 kg

Drive System

front wheel drive

Front-wheel drive power wheelchairs work well over small obstacles. They have a considerable turning radius and are easier to maneuver around the house or in tight spaces. Although these chairs are known for providing good stability, they can drift when turning at high speeds. Front-wheel drive electric wheelchair is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

mid-wheel drive

These chairs add a tight turning radius of three drives, making them ideal for use in apartments, malls, and anywhere else where space is limited. They are very easy to maneuver on flat surfaces indoors or outdoors, but less ideal on hilly or steep terrain.

Rear wheel drive

Rear-wheel drive power wheelchairs are maneuverable on steep terrain, making them a good choice if you enjoy outdoor activities. Placing the drive system at the rear allows for greater maneuverability even at high speeds. They do have a large turning radius, so they can be difficult to maneuver indoors.
